A Nap of His Own

Thomas loves his mobile. He is such an easy baby. I can swaddle him, give him his pacifier and wind up his mobile and most of the time he will fall asleep. I know...he really does spoil me. I was able to capture a great picture of him sleeping without waking him up.

Nap Time

Arden loves her brother and she will tell how much she likes having him around. The other day it was time for her nap and she wanted Thomas to take a nap with her.

I thought this should be interesting because she is very particular and protective of her bed and bed items. However, she scooted over and shared her pillow with him. She was really sweet to him and even wanted me to get the camera to take their picture.

However, when I took him out of the room so she could take her nap I really don't think she was that disappointed.

A Snow Bunny in May

The nights here the past week have been very cold. I believe we even had the heat on a couple of times to take the chill off the air. It does not feel like May almost June. Because it's been cooler at night Thomas was waking up because he was cold. I decided to let him wear his snow suit to keep him warm and it worked like a charm. He slept through the nights without a peep.

He is so cute in the suit that I had to capture it on the camera.

Living in the City

On Sunday we took the light rail into town for church. Speed Street and the Coca-Cola 600 were in town and they said that parking would be scarce. So we decided to ride the train to save us a headache. The train stops about a block from where we attend church and it would be something different to do.

On the way there and back Arden love watching the buildings and cars go by as we rode the train. She really enjoyed herself. I also found myself in wonder thinking how different this was than what I knew as a child. I'm still a country girl at heart that enjoys living in the city.

After church we stopped for pizza and then walked around the city. Uptown has a different feel on the weekends than it does during the week.

Arden stopped long enough for us to take her picture in front of the fountain.

A Rainy Memorial Day Weekend

It has rained all weekend and so our Memorial Day weekend has been limited. However, Arden will not let anything stop her from enjoying the kick off to summer.

Sweet Boy

Thomas is such a sweet boy. His pictures don't do him justice. Here's a little video that shows him smiling and just being so sweet.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my dad's birthday. He is a great father to me and has always been there for me no matter the need. He calls me just to talk and find out how the kids are doing. Whenever he comes to visit he always ends up working on a task for us around the house.

He's a fantastic Paw Paw who Arden calls all the time on her cell phone but for some reason will not talk to him on a real phone. He's missing out on some great phone calls. He makes Arden feel special and I'm sure he'll teach Thomas how to drive a tractor as soon as his feet can reach the petals.

Thanks Dad for being such a great dad and an amazing grandpa.

H-E-R-D Let's Go Herd!

For Christmas Thomas received his first piece of Marshall gear from his Aunt Cari and Uncle Seth. I must say he looks handsome in Herd Green. Maybe one day he'll compete like his daddy did for the Thundering Herd.

Bird Watching

The past couple of days Arden and I have been doing a little bird watching. We have a woodpecker who likes to destroy...oops I mean...peck on our trees.

He is a beautiful bird will a full head of bright red feathers and a black body. He's pretty easy to spot because he always is in the same tree. So I found our binoculars and taught Arden how to use them. It was so fun to hear her exclaim "I found him!"

Comfy Cozy

As I work and move throughout the day I take Thomas with me. He does well to sleep just about anywhere. However, I think that I might have found his favorite spot. I can't blame him. He looks pretty comfortable.

The Eye of the Spider

Thomas' play gym has a few animals that hang down from it. Lately he has been eyeing the spider. A few times he'll put up his fist and hit it. One day I turned around and noticed he was holding the ring that the spider is attached to.

I was pretty excited. He just turned two months on Monday and his hand eye coordination is ahead of schedule! I was able to capture a few pictures of it. The interesting part is sometimes he is very focused on that spider and other times he could care less that it is hanging over his head.

A NICU Celebration

Every year the hospital where Arden was born hosts a party to celebrate the children who graduated from the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). It is really fun to go and see all of the children who are running around playing games and having a blast. There are many twins and triplets there as well.

Arden climbed up in the fire truck. She is so fascinated with fire trucks and all their equipment. The fireman was really great and let Arden play with all of the equipment and controls.

She made a pit stop in the jumping ring and had a blast. Then it was off to get some popcorn. Along the way we ran into Sir Purr but she wanted nothing to do with him.
Then after popcorn she tried her hand at the bean bag toss. She cheated just a little but still had a great time.

We had a great lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and fresh fruit. After her meal Arden tried her hand at Putt-Putt and did a great job. There were other exhibits as well and we had such a great time.

Question of the Week

How are we supposed to enjoy the pool opening up next weekend when the temperatures will barely be in the 70s all week?

Stealing the Show

The other day when I took Arden with me to Thomas' doctor's appointment she stole the show. Thomas was very handsome in his outfit but he had a hard act to follow with his sister walking beside him.

She loved her outfit and even wanted me to take a close picture of her headband. She told me that I could put it on line to show Gran Gran. I was shocked that she wore her headband the entire time we were out running errands. This is huge for her because she usually rips out any bows or pony tails that are in her hair and she will even attempt to take down any updo that I might wear.

Here are the pictures of her looking mighty fine in her new outfit.

Two Month Stats

Thomas turned two months on Monday the 11th. On Wednesday he saw his doctor for his check up and a couple of shots. His doctor said he looked great and that I could even drop a feeding if Thomas can go longer between feedings.

Here's his scores:
Weight: 13 lbs 14 oz
Length: 24.25 inches

I know that he is getting bigger just by looking at him but I was almost shocked with the numbers. Both are in the 90 percentile. He is one big little boy. He's growing so fast .

Outage

This week has been a busy one and I have many things to share but our Internet has been down since Wednesday. They were working on a major road near our house that caused the outages all day Wednesday and half a day on Thursday. We found out today after 3 Time Warner Cable trucks arrived that our Internet was hooked up incorrectly. So with that said they worked for 2 hours and we are finally back up and running.

I hope to crank out some posts and pictures for you soon.

Question of the Week

Don't you just love a sleeping baby?

Hanging Out

Thomas is starting to love to hang out in his play gym. It's interesting to watch him. Sometimes he just swings his arms and other times he will stare down the blue bird and then punch him. If Thomas goes for the one arm punch he puts his hands right back up to his face to protect himself like a boxer. The interesting thing he is favoring the same bird on the gym that Arden loved.
Many times I'll turn around and Arden will be down there with him. She doesn't play with his toys she just wants to be close.

Happy Birthday Jenny

Today is my friend Jenny's birthday. I wanted to wish her a very happy birthday on my blog. Everyone needs a friend like her. We talk about everything and nothing all at the same time. We laughed together, we've been though the death of family members together and we talk about the simple things that are going on in our life.

Even though she lives in Michigan and I live here it's almost like she lives down the street because we talk several times a week. If I'm having a rough day I know she'll listen to me and I hope she feels the same way. Our husbands get along great and when all four of us are together we pretty much laugh the entire time. Maybe one day her and her husband will get tired of shoveling snow and move south. Ok...that's a little selfish but everyone should have a friend like her close by.

Jen,

I hope you had a great birthday and that you have many, many more. We love you.

love,
Lisa, Dave, Arden and Thomas

Overheard

Here are some great things that Arden's told me over the past couple of days....

Me: "Arden are you a princess?"

Arden: "No Mom, I'm a super genius."

I love it that she thinks not only a genius but a super genius.

______________________________________________________

Arden: " Mom, the wolf is coming to our house."

Me: "Why is the wolf coming to our house?"

Arden: "To blow it down."

Me: "Why would he do that?"

Arden: "He'll huff and puff and blow the house down."

Me: "Not, how he will blow the house down but why will he blow our house down?"

Arden: "Mom, that's what he does. He huffs and puffs and blows down people's houses."

Dancing with the Stars

Arden has two favorite shows outside of Seseam Street. American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. American Idol is her favorite and she calls it "Ma-merican Idol". She watches it with me while we eat popcorn and sometimes dance to the songs.

On Mondays we watch Dancing with the Stars. Actually, we don't watch it we dance to most of it. She watches the dancers and wants to try what they are doing. Dance lessons are in her future.

The Wheels on the Bus

Dave recently put in hardwood floors with the help of my dad and his friend Chris. Since the floors were installed I had to develop a new method of cleaning to clean up around the kitchen table I move the chairs to the middle of the floor in a row.

She is so excited when I move the chairs to clean. She jumps up on the chairs and yells it's a bus. She pretends to drive the bus and then she'll pretend to ride the bus. It keeps her occupied while I clean and it's fun to watch her.
